Christmas charity Sussex: building on the magic of 2025
The Greenaway Foundation is a Christmas charity Sussex families have relied on since 2011, and today we help children across much of Surrey, Sussex and Kent. After the incredible success of Christmas 2025, when we supported over 1,000 families across much of Surrey, Sussex and Kent, The Greenaway Foundation is setting its sights even higher. For Christmas 2026 we are embarking on our most ambitious effort yet, aiming to help 1,200 families and make 4,000 wishes come true for children who might otherwise miss out on the magic of Christmas.
Since our first delivery to Tiffany in 2011, we have seen first hand the power of community spirit, and every year our supporters prove that together we can achieve the extraordinary. This year will be no exception.

Where we are now
- Venue confirmed: thanks to Oriel High School in Maidenbower, Crawley, Santa’s Workshop and the hamper build will be in the school’s Youth Wing from the week starting Monday 14th December.
- Nominations: we are contacting all of our family nominators, such as schools, charities and doctors’ surgeries, to check their details. They will receive details of how to nominate families very soon. We can only accept nominations from a professional who knows the family, so if you need help, please speak to your child’s school.
- Santa’s Workshop bookings are open: over 30 elves have already booked their wrapping shifts at the Oriel Youth Wing, Monday 14th to Friday 18th December. Our morning shifts are filling fast, but we still need lots of elves for our 1pm to 4pm afternoon shifts. Book your workshop shift here. Booking for our elves and reindeer opens very soon. If you are new and would like to help, find out about volunteering.
- Fundraising: the Charity Golf Day on 2nd October raised £4,000, Greenaway Live brought the community together in September, and we have received a £1,000 grant from Tesco.
- Food sponsors: thank you to Gelstarr Windows in Crawley for sponsoring the yule logs and medium chickens, and to DMH Stallard for sponsoring the medium Christmas puddings, and to Caravan and Motorhome Club in East Grinstead for sponsoring the small bags of sprouts for this year’s hampers.
