History of
The Greenaway Foundation
Driven by a deep desire to make a meaningful impact, Darren Greenaway founded an initiative to provide local families with all the necessary ingredients for a wholesome two-course Christmas dinner. What began as a heartfelt gesture has flourished over the years, with deliveries now extending across East and West Sussex, as well as Surrey and Kent. The Greenaway Foundation’s support, however, is not confined to the festive season. Throughout the year, we are dedicated to assisting families through partnerships with schools, offering vital support for uniforms, transport, school proms, educational trips, and residential holidays.
Our Mission
Since the inception in 2011, The Greenaway Foundation has been dedicated to supporting financially challenged families in the southeast of England. We are proud to have provided help to over 10,000 families, bringing warmth and joy to those in need.
Our mission is to extend a helping hand to families who may not qualify for formal help. We collaborate closely with local schools, social services, and other charities to identify those who require assistance. Please note that we are unable to accept direct requests from parents or carers, as our support is channelled through these trusted partnerships.
The Greenaway Foundation is sustained by the generosity of individual donors, local business sponsorships, and a variety of fundraising events. Additionally, Greenaway Residential Estate Agents contributes 10% of its profits to help cover our operational costs, ensuring that every donation received goes directly to benefiting the families we serve. We remain committed to making a tangible difference in our community and are deeply grateful for the support that enables us to do so.
Meet Our Team
Darren Greenaway
Charity Founder
Darren devotes the majority of his time to The Greenaway Foundation, both during working hours and in his personal time. With unwavering commitment, he strives to realise his charitable vision, tirelessly working to support and uplift those in need within our community.
Simon Brown
Trustee
Simon has been an integral part of The Greenaway Foundation almost since its inception. Having worked alongside Darren for over two decades at Greenaway Residential Estate Agents, his dedication and shared vision have been instrumental in supporting the Foundation’s mission to make a positive impact in our community.
Ryan Sallows
Trustee
Ryan is a well-known and respected figure within the Crawley community, serving as the Business Manager for Oriel High School. As a long standing trustee of The Greenaway Foundation, he has played a pivotal role in steering the charity’s development, offering invaluable guidance to support its growth and ensure its continued impact.
Elaine Jenkins
Trustee
Elaine, now retired, served for many years as the Headteacher of Maidenbower Junior School in Crawley. She brings her extensive experience and deep understanding of the educational system to The Greenaway Foundation, where she plays a vital role in applying for grants and helping to structure the charity’s initiatives for maximum impact.
Kimberley Jayne

Kimberley has joined The Greenaway Foundation, bringing with her a wealth of expertise from a distinguished career in marketing. Now retired, she is dedicated to promoting a deeper understanding of the charity’s core values within the community, ensuring our mission resonates with all those we aim to support.
Patrick Constance
Trustee
Patrick, affectionately known to many as ‘Paddy’, is the most recent trustee to join The Greenaway Foundation. For numerous years, he has been a steadfast supporter of the charity, particularly during the Christmas season, and has played a key role in promoting many of our initiatives within the community.
