Crawley Community Awards 2024 Acknowledges Fundraising Efforts

The annual Crawley Community Awards at The Hawth Theatre honoured The Greenaway Foundation’s Trustees for their exceptional fundraising efforts, for raising over £80,000 for their Christmas efforts.  CEO Darren Greenaway accepted the prestigious fundraising accolade, emphasising the Foundation’s transparent financial model and impactful community initiatives.

On the 25th of June 2024, The Hawth Theatre was the esteemed venue for the annual Crawley Community Awards, an event that recognises outstanding contributions to the local community. Among the nominees for an award were the Trustees of The Greenaway Foundation, who were proud to be recognised for their exceptional fundraising efforts over the previous 12 months.

During this period, the dedicated team of Trustees successfully raised over £80,000 to support the Foundation’s charitable endeavours.  One of the notable initiatives was the Foundation’s annual Christmas efforts, where
last Christmas over 900 families received essential ingredients to prepare a healthy two-course Christmas dinner.  Additionally, the Foundation made over 1,600 Christmas wishes come true for local children. These wishes (presents), brought joy and festive cheer to numerous young hearts in the community.

The impact of The Greenaway Foundation extends beyond the festive season. The Foundation plays a crucial role in supporting fifty-one local schools in the Crawley, East Grinstead, and surrounding areas. This support encompasses various aspects, including facilitating student travel to and from school, providing meals, uniforms, contributing to school proms and trips, as well as assisting with residential trips. The Foundation’s commitment to enhancing the educational experience and well-being of local students is truly commendable.

At the Crawley Community Awards, the prestigious accolade for fundraising was bestowed upon the Foundation’s CEO, Darren Greenaway.  In his acceptance speech, Darren graciously acknowledged the collective efforts of the Trustees, Volunteers, local businesses, and private donors who contributed to the Foundation’s success. This recognition marks the second time that The Greenaway Foundation has been honoured at these Awards, underlining its sustained dedication to making a positive difference in the community.

A distinguishing aspect of The Greenaway Foundation is its financial model. The cost of running Foundation is generously provided by
Greenaway Residential Estate Agents, ensuring that every penny then raised directly benefits the local community. This commitment to transparency and accountability reinforces the Foundation’s credibility and trust within the community.

Looking ahead, Darren Greenaway has set ambitious goals for this Christmas. The Foundation aims to extend support to over 1,000 families and to fulfil at least 3,000 Christmas wishes, amplifying its impact and spreading joy to an even larger number of individuals.

The Greenaway Foundation’s unwavering commitment to serving the community epitomises the spirit of altruism and compassion. Through the Foundation’s impactful initiatives and dedicated efforts, they continue to uplift and support financially challenged families in the local area.
